💡 Appointments are booked ONLINE at conperlondrescitas.as.me (Monday to Friday, 9:30-17:30). The consulate handles DNI, biometric passports, powers of attorney and civil registrations. Note: the embassy's website still mentions a 'temporary office' at 21 Knightsbridge — the current premises are Brompton Road (checked 7 Sep 2026).
Will I be fined if I don't vote from London?
The nuance almost nobody explains: if your DNI records your address as OVERSEAS, there is no longer a fine for not voting. Voting remains compulsory (ages 18-69) and you can vote with an expired DNI — but if you're selected as a polling-station officer and don't attend, that fine (S/275) does apply. Bottom line: update the address on your DNI.
How do I renew my DNI or passport in London?
At the consulate, with an online appointment (conperlondrescitas.as.me). The DNI is processed at the consulate and RENIEC runs special campaigns in election years; the biometric passport is issued there too. Can't get to London? The consulate runs itinerant consulates in other UK cities (Edinburgh, for example) where DNI and passports are also processed.
Does my family need a visa to visit me?
No visitor visa needed — but since January 2025 they do need the ETA (electronic authorisation: £20 since April 2026, valid 2 years, stays of up to 6 months). It's applied for online in minutes, and airlines now refuse boarding without it — children need one too. If your relative holds UK residence or a visa, they don't need it.
Can I grant a power of attorney for Peru from here?
Yes, it's a consular service (online appointment) — as are birth certificates and other civil registrations.
Do I have to vote from London in the regional and municipal elections on 4 October?
No. Peruvians living abroad are not on the electoral roll for regional and municipal elections (we only vote in general elections and referendums), so on 4 October 2026 there are no polling stations in London and no fine for not voting. If your DNI still shows an address in Peru, you are on the roll over there — one more reason to update your address at the consulate.
