How do I renew my Mexican passport in London?
With a MiConsulado appointment, in person — and they hand it over THE SAME DAY (collection 15:00-15:30). Payment is in pounds, by bank transfer from your banking app at the time of the appointment.
Can I get my INE (voting card) from London?
Yes, and it's FREE: book via MiConsulado with a birth certificate, official photo ID and proof of address that all match. It arrives by courier in 4-6 weeks. London has issued it since 2016 — ready for the 2027 electoral cycle.
How do I apostille documents between the UK and Mexico?
Each document is apostilled in its own country: British ones go to the FCDO Legalisation Office (post only; private documents like degrees need prior certification by a solicitor or notary), and Mexican ones are apostilled IN Mexico (SRE or state governments) — the consulate doesn't do it, so don't let anyone send you on a wasted trip.
What else does the consulate handle?
Birth certificates, Mexican nationality procedures, powers of attorney and notarial acts — all with a MiConsulado appointment. For emergencies there's a 24h protection line (07516 421725) and the SIRME register.

The British paperwork coming your way, explained properly.
ETA for visiting family
Mexicans don't need a tourist visa, but the ETA has been mandatory since 8-Jan-2025 (£20 since April 2026, valid 2 years) — and since 25-Feb-2026 airlines check it before letting you board. Get it before buying the flight.
Coming to study? You're not alone
Nearly half the community arrived as students. MexSoc UK has an FAQ for newcomers and federates ~17 university societies.

Your people
Where your community gathers: food, faith, sport and meeting places.
The community's taquerías
Mestizo (the Camden stalwart since 2005, now also in Chelsea), Santo Remedio (from the Díaz-Fuentes couple, 3 sites), La Chingada (Bermondsey and Euston) and Sonora Taquería (Stoke Newington) — Mexican owners, real flavour.
The Mexican pantry
MexGrocer (since 2006, the UK's biggest importer of Mexican groceries), Cool Chile Co (tortillería and dried chillies), Mestizo Market in Camden and Mexican Mama online.
No neighbourhood — a table instead
There's no 'Mexican quarter' in London: the community is spread between the capital and the university cities. Its meeting points are the restaurants, Día de Muertos and the student networks.
Dates that matter
Día de Muertos — THE event
Multi-venue and massive: Columbia Road (free, in the street), Camden Market with Mandinga Arts' giant catrinas, and the Horniman Museum — verified 2025
El Grito
The embassy stages a high-profile ceremony — in 2025 it was at the V&A with mariachi and Mexican food. The consulate closes on 16-Sep
Cinco de Mayo
The party the English celebrate more than we do — in Mexico it barely registers, but if you're invited for margaritas, say yes
